Verisign and Harvard-Pilgrim Healthcare Announce Security Pilot with NEHEN
NEHEN is proud to announce that it will be participating in a pilot project designed to test true machine-to-machine
secure authentication for use with all healthcare data types. The pilot, involving
Verisign, Inc.,
Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center,
Harvard-Pilgrim Healthcare Inc.,
and NEHEN will document vendor-agnostic approaches to
implementing and maintaining a public key infrastructure (PKI) that allows participant organizations to streamline
the process of securely exchanging healthcare information over the Internet. We expect to use the pilot to document
best practices for implementing a PKI for a diverse community of healthcare exchange partners.

NEHEN and MA-SHARE Merger Completed
In the fourth quarter of 2009, the merger between these two complimentary organizations was completed with the goal of consolidating operations and to more tightly integrate the solutions being researched and developed by each of them.
"The merger makes a lot of sense," says Greg DeBor, a Partner in the CSC Healthcare division.
"Technology is removing the boundaries between what in the past have been viewed as separate administrative
and clinical processes. These lines are blurring. Payers and providers are working to improve healthcare
delivery across the board, with many overlapping patient outcome and service goals between them, so why not
bring these efforts together? The individual programs can now collaborate more easily and share the technical
innovations being produced."
